The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the interception of 27 drones over Russian territory on the night of Jan. 15-16. According to the report, 15 drones were shot down over the Belgorod Region, seven over Voronezh, three over Tambov, and two over Kursk.
Voronezh regional governor Alexander Gusev confirmed that several drones had “fallen” on an oil depot in one of the region's districts.
Independent media outlet Astra cited local residents, who reported an attack on an oil storage facility in the town of Liski. Videos published by Astra showed that at least three drones had struck the facility.
Governor Gusev later revealed that more than 10 drones had taken part in the raid on region. A photo he shared of the firefighting efforts at the oil depot showed that storage tanks were protected by anti-drone nets, which ultimately failed to prevent the strikes. Gusev stated that there were no injuries or damage to civilian property.
In the Tambov Region, drones reportedly targeted an area near the town of Kotovsk — the site of a gunpowder plant. Local residents reported sightings of drones and the activation of air defense systems. However, no official statement from regional authorities has been issued regarding the defense of the facility. Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council later confirmed the drone strike on the gunpowder plant.
