A Russian drone struck a kindergarten in Kharkiv earlier today, killing one person and injuring seven, according to reports by Ukrainian officials.

The country’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) said that 48 children were in a bomb shelter at the time of the strike, and all were later evacuated to safety. A residential apartment building and a warehouse also caught fire in Kharkiv following the drone attack.

“There is no and cannot be any justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten. It is obvious that Russia is becoming more brazen. These strikes are a slap in the face to everyone insisting on a peaceful solution,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in a post on Telegram.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said more than 10 regions of Ukraine came under rocket and drone fire overnight on Oct. 21-22. Six people were confirmed dead in connection with the overnight attacks: two in Kyiv and four in the surrounding Kyiv Region.

Twenty-nine people were injured, including five children, according to Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko.
